NAIOP Calgary has received the following correspondence from the City of Calgary in regards to the Infrastructure Investment Area discussions. Please review the letter and the link to the corresponding presentation.

RE: Infrastructure Investment Area Discussions

Dear Industry Partners,

We appreciate your offers to distribute City updates among your industry colleagues.

This email is a follow-up to the communication sent to you from Stuart Dalgleish on July 19 and our commitment to share more information after the August 02 Developer Advisory Committee meeting. City staff have been working to identify additional infrastructure investment opportunities that will trigger new jobs, public investment, leverage private investment, and take advantage of construction rates. This is an important and positive step in continuing to build mutually beneficial investment strategies with industry and we are looking forward to the next steps and ongoing collaboration.

This morning City staff met with the Developer Advisory Committee to share proposed investment discussion areas in established, industrial, and greenfield parts of the city. City staff will be in contact with developers to begin immediate discussions on implementation. At this point, the discussion areas represent Administration’s recommendations only, and have not yet been approved by City Council. Discussion areas will be brought forward individually with business cases to the Priorities and Finance Committee and Council.

Additionally, The City will be open to accepting proposals from developers in future investment areas. Industry and City representatives are working on process details and proposal guidelines, targeting completion by the end of September.

Attached you will find a copy of the presentation that was shared with the Developer Advisory Committee this morning.

Should you have any questions, please contact myself, Kathy Dietrich, Director Growth Strategies (403-268-6466), Matthew Sheldrake, Senior Growth Management Planner (403-268-5929), or Lesley Kalmakoff, Senior Growth Management Planner (403-268-3261).

We look forward to working together on this approach to delivering capital investments and supporting growth.

Sincerely,
Joel Armitage
Acting General Manager of Planning and Development on behalf of Stuart Dalgleish
