NAIOP Calgary has been an active participant in several meetings hosted by various stakeholders regarding the critical issue of the current split in property tax allocation between business properties and residential properties.  This issues has been one of our highest priorities for several years. Considering the current and foreseeable economic environment, the time has come for  NAIOP Calgary to ask City Council to address the property tax allocation between residential and business taxpayers with the core values of fairness, transparency and reasonableness being fundamental to finding the right solution to create sustainability amongst companies operating in Calgary.

On March 18, 2019 NAIOP Calgary formally responded to Mayor Nenshi and the City Councillors addressing the imbalance between the non-residential and residential taxpayers and the harm it is causing to Calgary’s competitiveness.
